Brown's Name Removed From Kids Choice Ballot

NEW YORK (AP) -- There won't be any awkward Chris Brown moment at the Kids' Choice Awards — the embattled pop star has withdrawn his name from the ballot.

Brown had been nominated for favorite male singer and favorite song for "Kiss Kiss" at the March 28 awards show on Nickelodeon. The nominations came shortly before his arrest for allegedly attacking girlfriend and fellow pop star Rihanna.

A petition had been circulated to take his name off the ballot, but Nickelodeon said yesterday he was still on. On Wednesday, Brown decided to take his name out of consideration.

In a statement, his representatives said while Brown would like to speak directly to his fans, he can't because of his criminal case.

He thanked his fans for their support.

Are you happy Chris isn't allegeable to win a Kids Choice Award this year?

Should They Still Be Nominated For Kid's Choice Awards?

In a statement to Usmagazine.com, Nickelodeon said Brown, 19, will remain a Kids' Choice Award nominee for favorite male singer and favorite song for "Kiss Kiss." (He will be competing against Rihanna in the latter category.)

An online petition asking Nickelodeon to remove Brown and Rihanna as nominees had 2,166 signatures Tuesday.

But a network rep tells Us: "Like all our KCA nominees, Chris Brown was nominated by kids several months ago based on his work as a performer, and the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category."

I figured Nick wouldn't do anything about it. Just like they didn't do much about Jamie Spears whe she revealed she was pregnant.
