David Archuleta: I'm Not Surprised Adam's Gay.

American Idol winner David Archuleta says he doesn't think it was a "big surprise" to hear that runner-up Adam Lambert announced he is gay. Adam publicly announced his sexuality. David said he always "assumed" Adam was gay and thought "everyone else did too."

Is anyone surprised he said he was gay?

David Archuleta Rocks At The Cafe in NYC

David Archuleta performed at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC’s Times Square on Monday night.

The 18-year-old American Idol alum dished to JustJaredJr.com on a few of his favorite things.

On keeping up with the blogosphere: “I don’t really visit blogs. I write blogs. I don’t really know much about them.”

On being environmentally conscious: “I’d love to get my family more involved in recycling!”

On his worst subjects in school: “I’m not too good at chemistry or math.”

On his favorite cartoons: “I don’t watch many but I do like Spongebob [Squarepants] and Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends.”

On his favorite YouTube video: “I like Charlie Bit My Finger and I like Charlie the Unicorn.”

On the best birthday gift he got last month: “I don’t really remember. My favorite part was spending time with the family. It’d been a really long time since I really got to hang out with them. We just went to Las Vegas, got away from everything, played video games and stuff.”

The Stars Reveal Their New Years Resolutions

BRITNEY SPEARS: “I would like to stop worrying so much because I worry all the time. And to learn how to be happier, just in general. And to stop biting my nails!”

KANYE WEST: “My resolution is to be as nice as possible to the press.”

FERGIE: “It’s always the same: to work out more and eat healthier. I’m trying to go organic, eat more raw.”

ASHLEE SIMPSON: “All my focus is on my son. Every day, being a better mom and learning with him. It’s an incredible experience.”

JAMIE FOXX: “I’m looking for the right woman. I need a magnifying glass! I’m trying to find that rare jewel.”

COOLIO: “No bills in ‘09. Live off other people. We’re in an economic crunch right now, so I’m not trying to pay any bills. I want somebody else to pay my bills, so you get me like 10 [women] with money. Nah, I’m just kidding.”

DAVID ARCHULETA: “I would like to learn more about the music and business that I have gotten into. I would like to get more involved in the writing side of music, and also I’m learning more things about performing and meeting a lot of new people that I can learn from.”

David Archuleta – Crush

David Archuleta's Crush

I don’t watch American Idol but I always know who wins and who is the runner up. I hear this song on the radio all the time. David Archuleta’s debut single Crush. His voice is very mature, if you knew nothing about him I don’t think you would say he's a 15 year old boy singing.

Here’s Billboard’s review:
It's not a stretch to suggest that Sony chief (and former Jive prez) Barry Weiss saved the "American Idol" franchise from top 40 radio demise. Instead of trying to overcontemporize the pageant's pop finalists with ill-fitting R&B production (read: Katharine McPhee), he has carefully aligned acts with material that matches (read: Jordin Sparks). So the prognosis is aces for the launch of season-seven runner-up David Archuleta. "Crush" is a hummable, age-appropriate midtempo pop ditty for the 17-year-old, showcasing his fine mass-appeal vocal stylings with creamy harmonies and some nice falsetto effects. The track is produced by millennium wiz Emanuel Kiriakou, who has worked with Sparks, Jesse McCartney, Celine Dion and Nick Lachey. "AI" has shown renewed radio potency thanks to such super-caliber artists as Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood—along with the democratizing of the consumer vote, via iTunes. "Crush" is likely to put its money where its title is on the charts. —Chuck Taylor
