Los Angeles To Host Two MTV Award Shows

The MTV network announced today that the 19th annual MTV Movie Awards will air live on Sunday, June 6th from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City , California and the 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, September 12th from Los Angeles, CA (venue TBA).

“The ‘Movie Awards’ and the ‘VMA’s consistently deliver some of the most talked about moments on TV. Making Los Angeles this year’s location for both shows gives us the perfect hotbed to create the eclectic mix of artists, stars and commotion which embody MTV events,” said Stephen Friedman, General Manager for MTV. “The success of last year’s shows ups the ante on the star power, music and movie madness viewers expect to see and they won’t be disappointed."

Pit Bull performed during the commercial break with house band, Wale. Bey won Vid of the Year and performed SweetDream/Single Ladies Medley.

Alicia Keys performed "Empire State of Mind" with Jay-Z. Diddy was a presenter.

Sean Paul looking very casual. Pink performed a high flying performance of "Sober." Shakira was a presenter. Talk about a wardrobe disaster! They both wore the same thing.

Nelly Furtado presented. Lady Gaga performed an amazing performance of "Paparazzi". Gaga also won for Best Art Direction, Best Special Effects and Best New Artist! My prediction was correct if anyone read my Tweet before the award show started.

I can't wait until New Moon comes out! This makes me even more excited to watch the VMA's this year. I received a press release about an EXCLUSIVE preview of New Moon at the 2009 Video Music Awards.

MTV grants fans another exclusive preview of one of the most anticipated films and soundtracks of the year, The Twilight Saga: New Moon during the “2009 MTV Video Music Awards” on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape delayed PT). After revealing the film’s first trailer at the “2009 MTV Movie Awards,” the network will once again treat viewers to an expanded trailer from Summit Entertainment’s second installment from the widely popular Twilight series that opens in theaters November 20, 2009. The movie’s cast has also been confirmed to appear including Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. Also during the show, MTV.com will exclusively unveil "Meet Me On the Equinox," the lead single off of the New Moon Soundtrack (available October 20, 2009) from VMA nominees Death Cab for Cutie.

Who's Hosting The 2009 VMAs?

MTV is back to take over New York City and the world should prepare for chaos as comedian Russell Brand returns as host.

MTV's 26th annual Video Music Awards will air live from New York City, for the 14th time in its history, on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape delayed PT).

For her first VMA performance, Taylor Swift will sing a never before heard version of “You Belong With Me,” off her multi-platinum album Fearless. Marking their first ever TV performance in the U.S., British rockers Muse will debut their latest single “Uprising” from their upcoming album The Resistance. Stay tuned for more big announcements regarding performers, nominees, and presenters.

Since that performance everyone said Christina Aguilera was copying Lady Gaga’s style. Heres what Lady Gaga told Blender:
"A lot of people have been saying that she is copying my style with her new song. I guess it bares somewhat of a resemblance but I wouldn't say she is copying me. This type of dance music is becoming more popular and I don't blame her for wanting to make and perform it. Her performance was great and it's a hot track."

Lil Wayne had a good night. He performed A Millie and Shoot Me Down accompanied by Leona Lewis singing. Weezy also performed with Kid Rock for All Summer Long and nabbed Best Hip Hop vid for Lollipop.

Britney Spears will open the 2008 Video Music Awards!

MTV Confirms:
“MTV has long played an important role in my career,” Britney says in a statement. “How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”
Although Brit is kicking off this year’s VMAs, there will not be a performance. So what will it be? A surprise that should not to be missed!
Britney is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”
The VMAs will air this Sunday, September 7th @ 9PM ET/PT on MTV

The media has been going back and forth about Britney attending the VMAs. I say yes, even if she doesn't take part in presenting or performing she will probably be in the audience. Why would she not go? According to OhNoTheyDidnt, Russell Brand the host announce Brit was going and he wasn't suppose to say anything.

On Russell Brand's weekly BBC radio show tonight, August 30th, he accidentally read out a list of people "appearing at VMA's" he's not aloud to mention. He didn't see it was not to be read out and said "here's some people appearing... Kanye West, Britney Spears -" then was cut off by his people. He later also said Pink was doing a performance.
