New Albums of 2010

Who is schedule to drop albums this year? Rap-Up.com did a list of 10 Most Anticipated Albums of 2010. I picked a few out of their list to inform you all about.

Usher – Raymond vs. Raymond
Usher is back to claim his throne with his first album since 2008’s Here I Stand. Audiophiles have been able to sample the R&B crooner’s sixth album with the leak of several tracks including “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home),” “In My Bag,” “Little Freak,” and the buzz single “Papers,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Songwriter Rico Love has already called the album “classic” and Ester Dean compared it to the biggest success of his career, 2004’s multi-platinum Confessions.

The-Dream – Love King
The man with the Midas touch’s sophomore album Love vs. Money landed on many critics’ best of 2009 lists and he assaulted the charts once again by penning hits for BeyoncĂ© and Rihanna. Yet The-Dream still hasn’t received his props as an artist. Will the Radio Killa, who wed Christina Milian last year, be able to change that with his third album, Love King?

Lupe Fiasco – Lasers
It wasn’t too long ago that Lupe Fiasco told Rap-Up.com, “I just don’t really feel like rapping anymore.” But thankfully the Grammy winner has changed his mind. Last year he fed our appetites with his mixtape Enemy of the State: A Love Story and leaked songs “Shining Down” and “I’m Beaming.” Now hip-hop heads eagerly await the Chicago MC’s first album in over two years, Lasers (Love Always Shines Every time Remember 2 Smile).

Erykah Badu – New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh
Ms. Badu picks up where she left off on 2008’s stellar New Amerykah Part One: 4th World War with New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh, due February 23. The soul sister enlists The Roots’ ?uestlove (“Window Seat”) and samples Biggie (“Get Money”) on her fifth studio album, which features contributions from James Poyser, 9th Wonder, Sa-Ra, and Madlib.

Ciara – Untitled
Although her latest album Fantasy Ride was recently released in May, Ciara is already in the final stages of recording her fourth as-yet-untitled LP. Hitmaking duo Tricky Stewart and The-Dream take up executive-producing duties this time around. While she has remained mum about details, Tricky hinted at the project’s direction. “It’s just her returning back to her strongest form,” he told Rap-Up.com. “It’s gonna be Ciara at her best. It’s gonna be indicative of how much people love that first album [Goodies] and how people love ‘Promise’ and other records when she’s had those really serious connections.” Tracks include “Gifted” and “Speechless” featuring The-Dream.

Say What?: The Dream's Big Purchase

The-Dream reveals his next big purchase to The New York Times:

“Mariah Carey took me up in her private jet last week. It was like: Ooooooh! I’ve got to get me one of these. Because now that I’ve got a taste, I’m never going back. I’m going to fly this thing everywhere—to L.A., to Atlanta, to New York. I’m going to fly this thing down the street and park it outside your apartment.”

Rolling Stone Reviews The-Dream's Love vs. Money

Rolling Stone magazine reviewed The-Dream's new album "Love vs. Money". The album will release TOMORROW, March 10.

But with his second CD, the man born Terius Nash leaps into another league.
These 14 songs draw on pro forma R&B subject matter: sex, sex in VIP rooms,
breakup sex, makeup sex. But the combination of classicist songcraft, wild sound
collage and a muse that partakes equally of the sensual and the silly makes Love
vs. Money far more than just an accomplished genre piece. The most obvious model
is R. Kelly, whom Dream name–checks in the swirling slow-jam "Kelly's 12 Play,"
a tale of a musically enhanced sexcapade. "Sweat It Out" is a hilarious conceit
about sex and grooming that begins with Dream cautioning, "Girl, call up Tisha,
your beautician/'Cause your hair is gon' need fixin'."

Tricky's beats
call to mind both Timbaland and Trent Reznor, filled with blasts of dissonance,
jazzlike chord changes, and background shouts and hisses that ricochet across
the stereo spectrum, and in the six–and–a–half–minute mini–epic "Fancy," a
symphonic multitracked chorale. The end result is genuinely odd: at once
avant-garde dance music and radio-friendly pop, sex farce that is genuinely
sexy. There isn't a weak song on Money; most of them are unforgettable. "Cupid
ain't got shit on me," Dream sings. In 2009, Cupid's not alone.

The-Dream and Diddy Collaborate on 'Last Train To Paris'

The-Dream is booked for Diddy's "Last Train to Paris" album. Radio Killa recorded a song called "Change" for Diddy's six studio album. “This record I wrote two nights ago. It’s [going to be] one of the biggest I ever wrote,” he tells Entertainment Weekly.
The-Dream was impressed with Diddy's vocals, “Diddy sang the record gracefully. He really pulled it off, and he really surprised me. Because it’s Puff, nobody expects it. [But] he’s got the goods.”
The-Dream also recorded "Walkin on the Moon" with Kanye West for the album. L.A. Reid, CEO of Island's Def Jame predicts the track will be “bigger than ‘Umbrella’”.

Last Train to Paris is scheduled for release on September 22, while The-Dream’s sophomore album Love vs. Money hits the internet and stores on March 10.

Kanye & The Dream Working On Joint Album

After he finishes putting out two albums this year (Love vs. Money and Love King), The-Dream plans to hit the studio with Kanye West for a joint album the pair have been discussing. “The fourth album you hear from me will probably be a record that’s done with Kanye,” he told DJ Skee on his HD2 New Music Show (watch below).

But first, Kanye wants Dream to raise his celebrity stature. Aside from penning No. 1 singles for BeyoncĂ© and Rihanna, the singer-songwriter is still relatively unknown as an artist. “I told [Kanye] I was gonna lift my profile.”

You can get a taste for what the new duo will have in store when The-Dream’s sophomore album Love vs. Money hits retail on March 3. The Def Jam labelmates collaborated on a track called “Walking on the Moon.” The album also boasts collaborations with Mariah Carey (”My Love”), Ludacris, Fabolous, and Lil Jon (”Let Me See the Booty”).
