DJ AM Released
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Celebrity disc jockey DJ AM has been released from a Georgia hospital after suffering severe burns in a fiery plane crash a week ago, a spokeswoman for the musician said Friday.
"While he is deeply saddened by the events he is thankful for all of the love and support he has been receiving from fans and friends," spokeswoman Jenni Weinman said in a statement.
DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, and former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, were rushed to a burn hospital in Augusta, Ga., after their Learjet crashed on takeoff from a Columbia airport. Doctors have said they expect both men to fully recover.
Two pilots and two other passengers who were close friends of the musicians were killed in the crash just before midnight Sept. 19.
An officer who was among the first on the scene said the musicians told him they escaped the flaming wreckage by sliding down a wing.
A hospital spokeswoman would not say when Barker was expected to be released. The head of the burn hospital said it can take up to one year to heal from the second- and third-degree burns the men suffered. But Dr. Fred Mullins said he didn't expect it to take that long for the musicians to heal.
The Learjet shot off the end of the runway, ripped through a fence and crossed a highway before coming to rest. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board have not said what caused the crash, but spokesman Peter Knudson said he expects the agency to release a preliminary report next week.
NTSB officials have said a cockpit voice recorder revealed that crew members thought a tire blew and tried to abort the takeoff. Investigators recovered pieces of tire from the runway.
Barker was one of the more colorful members of the multiplatinum-sellin g punk rock band Blink-182. DJ AM is a popular disc jockey who was also a tabloid favorite for some celebrity romances.

Robin Thicke's 'Something Else' Album Reviews
Robin Thicke’s third album Something Else arrives in stores and online next Tuesday. Find out what the critics are saying…
Entertainment Weekly: Yet what could come off like a bad lounge act on the lido deck is somehow elevated, both by Something Else’s buttery production and by Thicke’s own light-footed ease with the material. B+
Rolling Stone: The music is a lush, louche swirl of strings, congas and Fender Rhodes that flaunts its debts to Marvin Gaye (”You’re My Baby”), classic disco (”Something Else”), and Philly soul (”Magic”). 3 out of 5
Time Out Chicago: As transparently as possible, Thicke invokes Curtis Mayfield horn arrangements on the single “Magic,” raw Jimi Hendrix guitar on “Hard on My Love,” Sade lite-soul in the sublime “Loverman,” and the quiet desperation of Marvin Gaye’s voice on nearly every track. 6 out of 7

Esmee Denters Blogs About Stevie Wonder
"Hey everybody, I got back home to the Netherlands just in time because one of my all-time favorite singers was here to perform! I have always wanted to see one of his shows ever since I was little. My dad is a music freak just like me and when I grew up it really inspired me to likeall different types of music. But he had one record that I always begged him to play, which was "Songs in the Key of Life" by Stevie Wonder. I loved his soulful voice and the music blew me away. So when I heard that he was here to perform I just had to go. The guy is a legend and I wasn't gonna miss out on it. So I went to his show and I was so excited - it was an amazing show! He had the biggest live band I have ever seen with the best musicians on the planet and he even brought his daughter out to sing. He had so much energy his vocals were amazing. But what I really loved about him was that he was such a cool person. He kept making jokes and he seemed so relaxed. You could see that he was just loving every second of being up there. But what was even more amazing is that I got to go backstage and meet him. I was so happy and excited I couldn't believe it was happening to me! Here he was just sitting behind a keyboard. I got all nervous (LOL) so I shook his hand and told him how much I admired him. He was so nice. I told him I was a singer and asked him for advice he said: "dontcha ever stop doing what you do." I got to take a picture with him and I couldn't stop smiling all the way home."

Critics Rate Pussycat Dolls New Album
Entertainment Weekly: This follow-up to 2005’s multiplatinum PCD finds lead Doll Nicole Scherzinger in the spotlight, and she’s no Beyoncé. As for the others, well…can you name them? Do you even know how many there are? C+
Rolling Stone: But too often, the Dolls offer nothing that gives their own group a definitive personality. Standard-issue diva lyrics—mostly about their excellent hairstyles and less-than-excellent exes—don’t help. 2 1/2 out of 5
Los Angeles Times: There’s nothing that comes within sniffing distance of “Don’t Cha,” the Cee-Lo penned bit of winking R&B that announced their presence to the world. Instead, Doll Domination is a series of signifiers to other, more interesting, moments in recent pop culture. 1 1/2 out of 4

Billboard Review: Gym Class Heroes
Gospel soul hoedowns, hip-pop radio nuggets, brassy ska rides, melodic narrative ballads: Just call Gym Class Heroes your Swiss Army band. United behind Travis McCoy, who rhymes like Eminem with an arts school degree, the band is reminiscent of everything but atypical of nothing. On sophomore effort "The Quilt," the act tops 2006's gold-selling "As Cruel As Children," conjuring Sublime one minute ("Blinded by the Soul"), Chris Brown the next ("Cookie Jar") and then reverently summoning Hall & Oates' Daryl Hall to contribute vocals ("Live Forever"). Everyone plays a part, including inspired guests like Estelle and Busta Rhymes, but the real star is McCoy, who's got the lyrical wit, natural showmanship and effortless mystique of a superstar. If it all seems messy, it isn't. GCH sounds like an American utopia, where everyone coexists joyfully and thrives on the diversity. Perfect for an election year. —Kerri Mason

Nelly Performes Live With Ashanti & Akon
Quick Updates
According to Rap-Up.com, Akon will release his third studio album Freedom on November 25th. The album had previously been titled Acquitted. There is no news on a first single yet. Akon is due in court a week after December 1st to stand trial on criminal charges from a fan-tossing incident last summer.
It was revealed on Wednesday that the Jonas Brothers, M.I.A., and Lil Wayne are one of three artists featured in an outdoor billboard campaign for MySpace Music in New York City’s Times Square.
M.I.A. has been selected as one of Esquire’s “75 Most Influential People of the 21st Century.” The magazine’s list also includes Gnarls Barkley’s Danger Mouse. M.I.A. was selected “because she’s the first and only major artist in world music.” M.I.A.’s single “Paper Planes” is currently No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Busta Rhymes has signed with Universal Motown. Busta will release his eighth studio album on the label on December 9th. Universal Motown is home to artists Lil Wayne, Nelly, Akon, and Ashanti, among others.
Lily Allen New Album News
"My new album will be released on the 9th of Feb 2009. I know it's a while away, but there will be bits and bobs flying around before then, I'm shooting a video (for viral release) in the next couple of weeks, to keep you entertained. I am so excited, were getting all the artwork and stuff done and coming up with new and interesting ideas. I am trying really hard to do this album with integrity and I want you all to know that it has been thought about by me, not just some thrown together last minute industry bullshizz. I hope you'll all love it as much as I do, I'm working on extra stuff in the studio at the moment, it seems making an album isn't enough these days, some websites (not naming any!) won't put an album on their front page unless you give them exclusive tracks, not that I'm complaining, I am at my happiest in the studio so it works well for me, I just don't want to put out sub standard stuff. I always thought an album was a body of work in itself. You take it or leave it. You wouldn't say to a painter "Yeah I love the naked ladies, but would you mind painting their hair blonde instead of brown, and making their tits a bit bigger?" or "the trees are really pretty, a few more leaves perhaps?" Maybe you would actually, ha ha.
Anyway whatevs."

Free Sol Are The Ones To Watch
Free Sol has had a good year so far, taking advantage of opportunities to play at two festivals, Lollapalooza and South by South West. They were able to bring their music to a variety of audiences as Free explained that during South by South West “we played in a reggae club, which has a different vibe then our music.” To have such a fusion of styles for one group their influences musically range between each other. Free gets his inspiration from various artists from Prince to Tupac, while his band mates Elliot and Premo are inspired by class rock and church- based soul music. As a group the guys would like to think they are creating a form of hip hop and staying original.
How did Free Sol meet up with Justin Timberlake and get signed? Would you believe me if I told you Justin almost missed out? “Justin is a fan of us and we had the opportunity to set up a private show and perform our stuff. Justin loved our music and mentioned his label was in the works and he would be interested in signing us.” After Justin mentioned his interest, he finished his album and went on to promote Future Sex/Love Sounds and tour the world. While Free Sol was still playing at small venues, Akon’s people were interested in signing them. The guys were set to move to Atlanta and work with their possible new boss. Justin made a phone call to Free and wanted to sign the group and wasting no time JT had a contract on the group’s lawyer’s desk the following day.
Now that the guys have been signed what has changed for them? From being independent artists to getting signed with Tennman Records and Interscope have been a “slow, intense, exciting, frightening, and waiting experience,” Free stresses. ‘Patience is a virtue’ is what a parent always says to their kids and Free Sol can agree with that. The guys will be back in the studio in October working with Justin Timberlake as well as other producers from coast to coast. Besides the mega pop star, Free Sol would like to work with Timbaland, Rick Ruben, Pharrell, Will.I.Am, and Cool & Dre. Other artists they are interested in collaborating with include Andre 3000, Common, Kanye West, Estelle, and Amy Winehouse.
Other projects are always an option for multi -talented artists. Free had a part in the movie Hustle in Flow rapping, but the full scene was left on the cutting room floor, a small segment was still used for the film.
Free also has a clothing line, which right now only has t-shirts but would love to go forward with other apparel. “Follow in boss man’s footsteps” Free says with a laugh. The future looks bright for Free Sol and I can’t wait to get my hands on some new material.

Christina Milian Talks About Her Untitled Album
Christina Milian is in the studio finishing up on a new album still untitled, and will release on Myspace Records in 2009. The first single, “Us Against the World,” will premiere this month. “It’s very feminine,” Christina told Rap-Up.com about her new music since 2006’s So Amazin’. “I find that there’s been a lot of maturity in my vocals. [So Amazin’] was a little more urban-pop, so this one is pop-urban-international.” Christina is working with Cool & Dre who produces most of her last album. Kanye West produced and is featured on a track and Pitbull makes an appearance. While you waiting for Christina’s new material you can catch her in Bring It On Cinco and next year’s romantic comedy The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner.
Now Its Time To Say Goodbye To TRL
It's the end of an era for MTV.
Executive producer Dave Sirulnick said Monday that the final episode of TRL will air in November.
And, considering what MTV's program schedule looks like these days, the two-hour special—which doesn't have an exact date yet but will be shown on a Saturday afternoon—will seemingly be the most time the network has devoted to music videos all at once (minus the annual VMAs) in ages.
While this won't be the last episode ever of what premiered in 1998 as the Carson Daly-hosted Total Request Live, which helped introduce über-popsters such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake (as part of 'N Sync) to the world, Sirulnick agreed that the interactive video-countdown show could use a break.
Daly left his career-making venture for NBC's late-night pastures in 2003, after which a revolving lineup of VJs, including Damien Fahey, LaLa Vasquez and Nick Lachey squeeze Vanessa Minnillo, took turns hosting.
TRL, which started taping two episodes a day last year, marked its 2,000th episode on May 22, 2007. Later that year, in a nod to the fact that the show was no longer a singular destination for fans' video-viewing pleasure, producers turned to a combination of votes, chart action, downloads, ringtone purchases, radio play and Internet streaming to determine the top videos each week.
"I'm going to miss TRL," Eminem, who graced the show's Times Square studio many times over the years, said in a statement. "Where else will I be able to start feuds, defend my honor vigorously and act like an angry teenager on national TV? Oh wait...the VMAs!"
Pretty much, considering MTV is known to the current channel-flipping generation more for being the home of The Hills than the network where, for most of the 1990s, you could catch the Top 100 Videos of All Time countdown (which always ended with Guns N' Roses' "November Rain" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in the No. 1 and 2 spots).
Starting in November, new and viewer-tested videos will continue to have a home on the Pete Wentz-hosted FNMTV, featuring a pretaped combo of videos and in-studio performances, which had a successful 15-episode run on Friday nights this summer.

Kanye Arrested At Los Angeles Airport
An airport spokesman says police also arrested West's road manager shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday.
Airport spokesman Marshall Lowe says early reports are that West got into an altercation with a commercial photographer and a camera valued at more than $10,000 was broken.
The incident happened before West and his manager, who was not identified, cleared a security screening at the airport.
Lowe says police are continuing to interview witnesses and West may be booked later this morning.

Lady Gaga Speaks About Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera – VMA Performance
Christina Aguilera - Medley (mtv vma)
by kadosh2
Since that performance everyone said Christina Aguilera was copying Lady Gaga’s style. Heres what Lady Gaga told Blender:
"A lot of people have been saying that she is copying my style with her new song. I guess it bares somewhat of a resemblance but I wouldn't say she is copying me. This type of dance music is becoming more popular and I don't blame her for wanting to make and perform it. Her performance was great and it's a hot track."

Miley Use To Google Herself..
Excerpts of Girlfriend Magazine interview (Courtesy of ONTD):
Do you read the web? 'Sometimes. I'm a Google person. I used to google 'Miley' a lot but now I'm kind of over it.'
Are you going to tour overseas? 'Yeah, I'm going to do that next year. I'd like to go to Brazil because my dad went there and said the fans are the coolest. Australia is the other place I've always dreamed of going.
How you deal with some negative Hollywood role models? 'I''m like a hippie. I'm just kind of mellow. It's important to keep your mind in a great place and make sure that you're not abusing your body..'
Where do you think your confidence comes from? 'I'm not really sure. I've always been driven, you know? This is just something that I've always wanted to do. I'm not afraid of challenges and I like to take problems and tackle them.'
Do you write your songs? 'I write all the songs for Miley Cyrus. But not for Hannah Montana; that's where it becomes Disney. The clothes and all that; that's Disney.'
Where do you get inspiration? 'There are things that are going on in my life and in my family that I tend to write about. I also like people who write their own music, like Sheryl Crow. For acting, it's Hilary Duff because she has done much the same as me. Other people I look up to for acting are Jennifer Garner, Hilary Swank and Jodie Foster, who's actually called and given me some advice.'
